Job Description
Residential Support Worker, Stoke on Trent, Children. Must be a Residential Support Worker with a minimum of 2 years+ UK Support Worker experience within a Children's Residential setting
Our client is looking for a Support Worker with 2 years+ UK experience within a Children’s Residential setting
The responsibilities will include:
• Be part of the day to day safe operational needs within the practice functions of the home, to care and support Children & Young people with a variety of needs including Emotional Behaviours., this includes any other related tasks I.e. medical and nutritional needs, risk assessments, handovers and reporting / recording and safe working practices
• Required to work as part of a team of staff ‘and meet the needs of all young people, including any outstanding requirements, such as consultation with senior staff on safeguarding, policies & procedures, answering telephones and making appropriate recordings and entries. Act as the contact for, staff, Parents, social workers, attend meetings in consultation with the home manager
• Be the part of the day to day running of the shift, this includes responding to rota needs
• Be available and flexible when required to respond to situations that are not planned but are practical & reasonable, to ensure any training requirements are attended
• Ensure the delivery of quality practices, including administrative duties relating to personal and individualised care needs, as well as preparation/supervision of meals, cleaning duties and out and about activities, this includes any tasks designated by the registered manager

• Support (and at times undertake) the process of all young people’s needs to ensure they are supported, the delivery of quality services and maintain the level of supervision required by our policies & procedures
• Practice and understand the safeguarding needs of individual young people
• Evaluation of services, ensuring accuracy and prompt submission of reports as required, and the quality of service delivery
• Ensure systems are in place that are required by working practice guidelines. This includes weekly & monthly centre based of care plans, risk assessments, Safeguarding procedures H&S, fire safety & COSHH. In collaboration with seniors & Homes Manager
• Supporting Service delivery including rota cover and transport where applicable
• Monthly checks, reports and assessments, including revisions of existing care plans
• There is a mixture of straight forward repetitive tasks, i.e. filing and complex tasks like monitoring reports to ensuring accuracy and that there is sufficient evidence to support the report
• Supporting the Manager with:
• Co-ordination and planning of day to day activities, managing staff, monitoring (Safeguarding) issues, planning and organising events and communicating information to colleagues
• The post holder requires a high cognitive ability and flexibility to coordinate with the diverse expectations of the post; overseeing some office functions, operations and working on any developmental initiatives/projects
• Effective external working relationships with Local authorities, Community settings, Extended Services and GP surgeries
• Work flexibly and within reason, to suit the needs of the service set out by the homes manager; example; 2x 15 hour shifts worked consecutive/ or as 1 shift with sleep- in duties
• Immediate Start if possible
The successful Candidates must have previous experience within a similar setting and or a CQF/NVQ Level 3 certificate, have a current DBS and be a car driver.
