Our client is looking for a qualified Social Worker with 2 years+ UK Social Worker experience within a Children’s Social Work team

The team work extremely well together to ensure the safety of children under the close supervision of a supportive Team Manager

The responsibilities will include:

• Assess the needs of children with an adoption or long term fostering plan
• Establish the capacities or qualities of the permanent family required
• Undertake the search work to identify that family and establish a strong “match”. Once the match is identified, the Family Finding Social Worker leads on the matching report and support plan, the presentation to panel for approval, the co-ordination of the child’s preparation and the transition planning.  The Family Finder’s work ends at the first post placement review
• Sound knowledge of child development, the effects of early childhood abuse and or neglect and signs of developmental trauma
• Should have skills in the assessment of children’s current and future needs, of parenting capacities and the provision of support
• Should also have skills in managing children’s care plans, presenting to panels, responding to court directions to deliver statements or oral evidence and producing child centred, evidence based reports in a timely way. In addition, the Family Finding social worker should be able to manage the team around the child, advising and guiding them on the processes for permanency and overcoming any barriers to progress sensitively and diplomatically
• Given that the Family Finding social worker will be asked to consider a range of families presenting as adopters or foster carers, they should be prepared to assess their values base and respond to all families equally without prejudice
• Ideally, the candidate would have previous work experience in Family Finding Services though work with children in care, in adoption assessment or support or fostering assessment and support is relevant
• Candidates without Family Finding experience should be keen to learn and proactive in transferring their knowledge and skills to a new area; support will be provided
• The successful candidate will join a well-established, experienced and stable team who value good working relationships and the support that comes from them. The team benefits from fortnightly team meetings in which organisational updates are provided in addition to opportunity for reflection and practice discussions. The team manager is visible with an open door policy.  Supervision is offered to Family Finding Social Workers from the Team Manager/Senior Practitioner on a 4-5 weekly basis (minimum of 10 sessions over 12 months) with management support/oversight taking place in between sessions as required
