Job Description
Qualified Social Worker, Team Manager, Dudley MBC, Children's In Care Team - Must be a Qualified Social Worker with a minimum of 2 years+ UK Social Worker experience within a Children's Social Work team
Our client is looking for a qualified Social Worker with 2 years+ UK Social Worker experience within a Children’s Social Work team
The team work extremely well together to ensure the safety of children under the close supervision of a supportive Team Manager
The responsibilities will include:
• Children in Care usually have had adverse and complex experiences leading to additional emotional health needs and attachment strategies which can make it hard to provide consistent good care for them. Sometimes, their heightened needs means that carers are not equipped or skilled enough, they get tried and feel overwhelmed and this can lead to placement disruption and further emotional hardship for children and carers
• In Dudley, we have a jointly commissioned multi-agency team to help our children maintain placement stability and find early permanence. Whilst the service provide direct work, the overarching aim is to equip carers, social workers, supervising social workers and other professionals working with our children with understanding and strategies to meet children’s emotional needs or to fast track children to specialist therapeutic services to meet their needs. The team currently consists of social workers, mental health practitioners, a life story worker, psychotherapist, family support worker and a clinical lead who provides clinical supervision
• Over the next six months, we hope to redesign the service to more effectively address our key priority of early permanence of all children. We will work alongside joint commissioners to identify best practice and a model of service delivery that helps children get ready for permanence, is quickly accessible for children and carers in crisis, that appropriately responds to children who need to be escalated to higher levels of support and that fast-track support to prevent placement disruption
• We are looking for a team manager, to help us with this exciting, yet challenging journey. The team manager will work alongside the clinical lead on the day-to-day management of the service. The team manager will be responsible for representing the service at various decision-making panels to ensure that we catch in care with additional emotional health needs before they fall. They will also assist the Service Manager and Head of Service to develop clear pathways for services and training. As child level, they will attend Child Permanence meetings and Placement Disruption meetings to provide essential input and support the permanence agenda
