Job Description

Qualified Social Worker, West Midlands Council, Children's No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF) Team - Must be a Qualified Social Worker with a minimum of 2 years+ UK Social Worker experience within a Children's Social Work team

Our client is looking for a qualified Social Worker with 2 years+ UK Social Worker experience within a Children’s Social Work team

The team work extremely well together to ensure the safety of children under the close supervision of a supportive Team Manager

The responsibilities will include:

• Children whose parents have No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF) are at a high risk of homelessness and destitution; as their parents are restricted from accessing mainstream housing, welfare benefits or employment
• If the family is destitute and not able or willing to return to their country of origin; the NRPF Team assesses, screens and interviews parents. Following the screening, if it is deemed essential, a Child in Need plan is put in place. Where identified, subsistence and accommodation through section 17 of the Children’s Act 1989 will be arranged
• The ASTI & Safeguarding Teams work closely with NRPF; and will transfer cases to them following child protection enquiries, when a Child in Need Plan is recommended; or when the child no longer requires a Child Protection Plan but does need a Children in Need Plan
• Deal with children in need and at times of intense crisis
• Have fantastic verbal and written communication skills and the ability to make clear, evidence-based decisions about the safety of children
• With great organisational skills and willing to work flexibly, you will forge close relationships with partner agencies and have a good understanding of key legislation
• Liaise with other professionals
• 37 hours per week (flexible by negotiation)
• 3 month Temporary Contract
• Start date subject to DBS and reference clearance

The successful candidate will need to hold a DipSW or equivalent must be registered with the HCPC, have a current DBS and be a car driver.
